Background

VK Textiles, a mid-sized Indian fashion label known for its ethnic fusion wear, was facing increasing pressure from global retailers and conscious consumers to demonstrate sustainability credentials. The brand lacked a structured ESG strategy, and its supply chain practices were raising red flags on carbon emissions and waste management.


Krÿstähl's Engagement & Approach

Krÿstähl partnered with VK in 2023 to implement the GreenX™® Eco-Leadership Standard, aimed at embedding sustainability across product design, operations, and reporting.


Phase 1: Diagnostic and Baseline

  • Conducted an ESG gap assessment
  • Mapped value chain emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG accounting)
  • Audited packaging, dyeing, and wastewater management processes

Phase 2: Strategy & Training

  • Developed a Sustainability Roadmap aligned with SDGs 9, 12, and 13
  • Held 2-day ESG training for senior management and design teams
  • Recommended shift to low-impact materials and biodegradable packaging
  • Chemicals In Process - Impact Assessment Study was completed 
  • Shared the RECOMMEDNATION document with management 
  • Developed the ‘Implementation Plan’ for VK.

Phase 3: Implementation & Certification

  • Introduced closed-loop water systems in production
  • Achieved 30% reduction in waste-to-landfill within 6 months
  • VK received GreenX™® certification and was showcased in Krÿstähl’s annual Eco-Innovation Index.

  The Eco-Leadership Standard For Green Boardrooms The film, television, and fashion industries are significant contributors to global carbon emissions and environmental degradation. A 2021 report by the Sustainable Production Alliance highlighted that large-scale film productions emit approximately 1,081 metric tons of CO ₂ , while medium-sized films produce around 769 metric tons.
